R. K. (Ken) Honeyman, President and CEO, started his investment industry career as a licensed Registered Representative and Principal of several broker/dealers with offices on Wall Street, Denver and Tampa, Florida. In the financial services industry he has accumulated thirty two years of experience.
In 1990, he successfully divested his brokerage interests and founded a private oil and gas exploration and production company, Can-Am Resources, Inc. The Company drilled thirty three oil and natural gas wells and constructed two natural gas pipelines in various prolific continental and offshore basins in the United States all financed with private equity. The company was positioned to become publicly traded to maximize shareholder value.
Mr. Honeyman then founded the publicly-traded oil and gas exploration company, Lakota Energy, Inc. (LAKO.BB). The ensuing drop in pricing in the oil markets in the mid 1990’s was an opportunity to utilize the public vehicle as an incubation device. Mr. Honeyman successfully entered the high technology sector, purchased two Internet Service Providers, (ISP’s), located in Houston, Texas, with the public vehicle and emerged as 2-Infinity.com, (TWIC.OB). The planned exit fortunately coincided with the company achieving superior multiples on the company’s stock price and the height of the “dot com” era and the exit proved a valuable and successful timing lesson for Mr. Honeyman and the shareholders of the Company.
In 2000, he founded NuQuest Inc., a business development firm engaged in assisting private companies to position themselves for short-term growth and long-term sustainability. Armed with a fund derived from the success of 2-Infinity.com, NuQuest set out to locate quality companies to invest in. The process proved time consuming, inefficient and costly. His vision of an automated, web based portal to bring the two sided marketplace of capital seekers and capital providers was born and the result, The Capital MatchPoint has proven to be a powerful, scalable tool that has a unlimited applications in disparate market spheres such as equities, real estate, charities, art, etc.
In 1993, teamed with Dave Dambro, Executive Vice President of Nuquest, the two successfully completed a merger/acquisition deal with Alaska Apollo Resources, APLOF (CAN) and Daugherty Petroleum, Inc. a natural gas and exploration service provider headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. The two were instrumental in completing the listing of the publicly traded NGAS (NASDAQ) and promoted the early stage trading. With the successful completion the NGAS project, both continued along the path of venture capital financing.
